Our history from 1885 to today
Today, the Alexanderwerk Group is a leading international manufacturer of technologically advanced compacting and pelletising solutions for the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, life science and nuclear industries. The company’s machines and systems are used by all well-known producers worldwide.
From 1885
until today
Establishment
Established by Alexander von der Nahmer as a foundry. Produced manually operated meat grinders.
1885
Conversion
Conversion to stock corporation and listing at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FSE). The product portfolio comprises bread slicers, graters, juicers, Christmas tree stands, scales, machines for butcheries as well as canteen kitchens.
1899
Machine construction
Machine construction for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Focus on granulation machines and granulators.
1930s
The Laboratory (Technikum)
Development of the first fully functional roller compactor. Establishment of the “in-house” Laboratory (Technikum), which continues to exist until today.
1950s
Individual expectations
Design and construction of machines according to the individual requirements of our customers. Delivery includes the preparation of raw materials, screening of the granules, conveyors for continuous product circulation, dedusting and electric control of the machine.
1960s
New plants
Design and construction of plants for soda production.
1973
New assembly hall
Construction of an assembly hall for roller compactors.
1984
Establishment in the United States
Establishment of Alexanderwerk Inc. (USA)
1993
ISO 9001
Introduction of a new QMS and certification according to DIN ISO 9001.

WP 120 Pharma & WP 200 Pharma
Development and market launch of the WP 120 Pharma and WP 200 Pharma roller compactors.

Contemporary holding structures
Successful restructuring of the Alexanderwerk Group into a contemporary holding structure.

Establishment in Shanghai
Establishment of representative office in Shanghai (P.R. China).

Alexanderwerk (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. & AW Real Estate, Inc.
Closure of representative office and establishment of Alexanderwerk (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. (China).
Establishment of the AW Real Estate, Inc. (USA).

Establishment in Bogota
Establishment of a subsidiary in Bogota (Alexanderwerk Colombia S.A.S., Colombia) to look after the LATAM region.
