Roller Compactors
Alexanderwerk roller compactors are designed for continuous compaction of various powders or crystalline materials without addition of binders or liquids.

Our typical design combines product feed (Alexanderwerk patent : Combi-Vent-Feeder®) in a horizontal feed system with single or multiple-auger operation, optionally designed as a vacuum system, for uniform feeding of the powder between the rollers provided in a vertical arrangement.
With this configuration, any non-compacted side seal leakage can be separated from the compacted product flow by gravity.
The powder is compacted into so-called flakes, and can be gently reduced to the desired granule size after precrushing. This may occur in a single-stage or multi-stage granulating process.
Two types of roller compactors are available from Alexanderwerk. Our standard model is supported on either end, and the rollers run in bearings on either side of the shaft. This design is suitable for continuous production under the harshest conditions with wide rollers and a high throughput. The models with cantilevered rollers, on the other hand, facilitate quick and easy roller replacement, which is particularly desired where different types of products must be processed and frequent cleaning is required, such as in the pharmaceutical industry.
When processing several products, it is recommended that the rollers are cooled. In this context, we refer to our vacuum cooling system.
